Tevfik Fikret Jazz Orchestra and the famous French jazz trumpeter and conductor Jean-Loup Longnon will be one of the unmissable concerts of the festival. We would like to thank Institut Français and Ankara Tevfik Fikret Schools for their contributions.
The Tevfik Fikret Jazz Orchestra, the youngest group in the year of jazz energy, was founded in 2022 within Ankara Tevfik Fikret Schools with the aim of making young generations love jazz music. Students between the ages of 13 and 20, who grew up in the band infrastructure of the same school and are still studying in middle and high school or have graduated, continue to work under the conductor Levent Akkılıç.
Born in 1953, Jean Loup Longnon, a self-taught musician, began playing trumpet professionally at the age of 20 and soon began composing and arranging for ensembles ranging from jazz quintet to symphonic orchestra.
He has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Stan Getz, Hank Jones, James Moody, Winton Marsalis, Michel Legrand and many others.
As a soloist and conductor specializing in the “be-bop” style, Jean Loup Longnon has performed frequently in the USA, Greece, Turkey, Cuba, Madagascar, Israel, Russia, Brazil and many other countries.
This project was prepared with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
